Job Title: Pharmacist

Job Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing prescription medications, providing patient counseling, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting optimal patient care. This role works closely with patients and healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective use of medications while maintaining accurate records and managing pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and dispense prescription medications accurately and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Monitor patient medication compliance and identify potential medication-related concerns.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation.
  • Counsel patients on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including dosage, administration, storage, side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Answer patient questions and provide medication-related guidance.
  • Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices, including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Provide wellness services such as smoking cessation counseling, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
  • Compound medications for internal and external use as required.
  • Prepare sterile solutions and medications following established procedures and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
  • Identify and communicate drug-related problems and recommendations to healthcare providers.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians, pharmacy clerks, interns, and other pharmacy staff.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of pharmaceutical products and medical supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with all pharmacy regulations, policies, and professional standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
  • Current and active Pharmacist license issued by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy practices, medication therapy management, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and patient counseling skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with pharmacy management systems and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Sterile compounding experience.
  • Previous experience supervising pharmacy staff.
  • Strong problem-solving and clinical decision-making skills.

License/Certification

  • Active Pharmacist License (Required)
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Degree (Required)
